Rajesh Lukra
“Imagining my life without Humankind is impossible for me.
It is now like a routine habit to me.”
Rajesh currently works at Honda Motors at Naroda. He was one of those kids who were the first batch of Humankind. He met Uttam sir at his school, where sir used to come on Saturdays and Sundays and used to make them play games.
He further explained that gradually sir started asking them to first study and then used to allow them to play games. Sir also made the students get rid of their bad habits, and motivated them to study.
Rajesh was always fond of studying English, so he was really happy meeting sir who used to teach him English along with all the basic. He recalled that it was because of sir, that he got motivated to study more and think about his future.
After 10 th , he started teaching at Humankind and it was also at that time when sir asked him to fill up a form for a diploma course, so that he can get job and start earning money. Thus, he did his diploma in Automobile from a government institution and subsequently also pursued his B.E. in Automobile from a government college.
He stated that it was all because of Humankind that he filled up those forms for the diploma and even did his graduation. Sir encouraged him and gave him a vision in his life that he needed to do something.
This inspired him a lot and made him get serious towards his studies. For him, the most memorable moment here was being a teacher that too at a place where he once was a student. This makes him really proud of himself as well as very happy because he thinks by this way, he can give back what he got to learn here, at Humankind to other students and somehow help them in their lives.
It is this memory that he will cherish forever in my lifetime. He considers Humankind as his second home. Sir, other volunteers, students, all of these are very close to his heart and like a family.
What he learnt here is something so enriching and inspiring that it is hard to explain this journey.
However, what is for sure is Humankind indeed has a very special place in Rajesh’s heart and he will remember this splendid experience throughout his lifetime.
